====== 💻 Personal Devices ====== The school aims to provide staff with the necessary equipment to perform their daily duties. The use of non-school-issued equipment is only permitted with prior authorization from the IT Department. ===== Personal Computers ===== All teachers and administrative staff will be provided with a single personal computer. Depending on their roles, this will be either a desktop or a laptop. Generally, teaching staff receive laptops, while administrative staff are assigned desktops. However, administrative staff may be provided with laptops if required by their job responsibilities. Teaching Assistants typically do not receive a device. However, the IT Department will make an effort to provide them with one if their job duties necessitate it and if devices are available. ===== Monitors ===== All desktop users will receive a standard 24" monitor. Laptop users may optionally request a 24" monitor, with requests to be made at the beginning of each budget year. If requests are not submitted, the IT Department will do its best to provide monitors based on budget and availability. Staff in administrative positions requiring more display real estate may request a larger monitor or a second 24" monitor, subject to the discretion of the IT Department. ===== Tablets ===== Primary classroom teachers in the International Section will be provided with an additional iPad. Staff in the Korean Section may be provided with an additional tablet at the discretion of the Head Teachers. ===== Device Management ===== All devices in the school are equipped with a mobile device management (MDM) system called [[https://youtu.be/ukrnCwcLvV8|Microsoft Intune for Education]]. The IT Department centrally manages application installation and device security. If staff require specific applications that are not included in the base package, either on their device or on student devices, they should contact the IT team at [[mailto:ithelp@kis.edu.hk|ithelp@kis.edu.hk]]. ===== Assignment & Responsibilities ===== The IT Department maintains a comprehensive inventory of equipment assigned to each staff member. Staff are responsible for taking good care of all equipment entrusted to them and must return it to the school upon their departure or at the request of the IT Department. In the event of damage to equipment, staff may be liable for the cost of repair or replacement, as outlined in their employment contract. Staff should not exchange or transfer devices to other staff members without prior authorization from IT. ===== Refreshment Cycles ===== The IT Department aims for a refreshment cycle of 4 to 6 years for personal computers, depending on budget availability. Unless there are technical issues, staff may not request their computer be replaced earlier than 4 years. Within the Korean Section, the refreshment cycle will be determined at the discretion of the Head Teachers and budget availability from the Korean Government, unless technical reasons necessitate a change. == User Guides == [[https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vgsd7APVKaXKnvsrXQ5ZzcqXjScPFrsZ/view|Personal Computer Setup Guide (International Section)]]
